How to craft it
Open the workbench in the Haven, choose Recipes, and select Planks to lay out the pattern. You can also place the ingredients by hand anywhere in the 3×3 grid; the shape matters, but its position does not.
When to make it
Make planks at the beginning of any construction plan. One log returns four boards, enough for two batches of sticks or most of the frame of a boat. Keep the output as planks until the final recipe is chosen because sticks cannot be rebuilt into boards.
A single batch is efficient for early experiments, while boats and beds need several boards at once. Count those direct costs before processing the remainder. The one-cell pattern can sit anywhere in the workbench grid.
