How it behaves
It begins to flee at 17 metres, reaches 8.4 metres per second, and rests under nearby cover after dusk.
Hunting notes
Approach from close cover with a stone sword selected. The first hit startles passive animals, so close the distance before attacking and keep enough energy for the chase.
Preparation and rewards
Deer reward preparation more than pursuit. Their three-meat yield is tied for the best among passive wildlife, but an 8.4 m/s sprint makes a long chase expensive. Search forest, taiga, and meadow edges, use trunks or terrain to shorten the approach, and begin the attack with enough energy to stay close after the herd scatters. The strong leather chance also makes deer useful when food and protective materials are both running low.
