Charcoal turns four logs into two units of compact fuel. One unit combines with a stick for a torch; another can anchor a campfire. Crafting both from the same batch is an efficient preparation for a journey that may continue through darkness or cold.
Keep enough charcoal for both portable light and a campfire when a route may continue into darkness or cold. The workbench cannot turn charcoal back into logs.
